Meet Carl Leatham
Wellsville raised me. My parents, family, and neighbors taught me the importance of working hard, giving back, and caring about the community around me.
I want to return the favor by keeping our small-town spirit strong while ensuring we’re prepared for the future.
We can’t stop change, but we can make sure it happens the Wellsville way—responsible, thoughtful, and always rooted in what makes our town unique.

My Priorities as Mayor

Protect What Makes Wellsville Special
Preserve our small-town feel, community traditions, and open-hearted neighborhoods. Growth should support who we are—not change it.

Homes for Everyone at Every Stage of Life
Too many young families and seniors are forced to leave Wellsville for neighboring towns. I want to see housing options that allow them to stay here, close to the people they love.

Smart, Local-First Community Growth
Well-planned commercial development along the highway and downtown can strengthen our tax base and provide needed services—without sacrificing our heritage. Growth should pay its own way through impact fees and grants, rather than imposing new burdens on residents.

Reliable Infrastructure
We must continue improving roads, water, sewer, irrigation, parks, and trails. Protecting our water sources and pursuing pressurized irrigation will ensure we’re ready for tomorrow.

Open and Approachable
I believe residents deserve clear communication, easy access to information, and real opportunities to be heard. Leadership should be approachable and accountable.

18 Years of Service.
One Clear Commitment: Wellsville.
I’ve had the privilege of serving Wellsville for 18 years:
-
12 years on the City Council
-
6 years on Planning & Zoning
-
Work on emergency response, traffic and road planning, and our General Plan
Through it all, I’ve built a reputation for listening first, planning responsibly, and respecting both tradition and progress. I also believe deeply in property rights, fiscal responsibility, and transparent government.

How I Lead
Leadership isn’t about flash—it’s about trust.
My approach is simple: listen deeply, act responsibly, and stay true to the values that make Wellsville feel like home.
Stewardship, not showmanship.
Do the work, mind the budget, tell the truth.
Listen First.
Understand More.
Bring residents, property owners, and businesses to the table.
Plan Responsibly. Act Wisely.
Follow the General Plan and vision that residents helped shape.
Keep Wellsville… Wellsville
Protect the everyday moments that make this town special.

Family, Football, and a Love for Wellsville
I’m a die-hard Aggie football fan who hasn’t missed many home games in 50 years (except for family outings that I love just as much). I enjoy decorating my yard for Halloween and Christmas. I’m a husband, father, and grandfather who probably drinks more Mountain Dew than I should.
At the end of the day, I’m your neighbor — and like you, I want Wellsville to stay the kind of place where generations feel proud to call it home.
I’d be honored to have your support on November 4th.
Together, let’s protect Wellsville’s past, plan wisely for its future, and keep it the special town we all love.
